On the domestic front, fragrance options have come a long way from industrial-strength lemon Pledge and heady Glade bathroom freshener.

1. Very lightly mist a light bulb with the cologne scent, it will "bloom" whenever the light is on.

2. Spray your vacuum cleaner bag, fan, humidifier and air conditioner for similar effects. A little scented talc on your carpet will also bring out fragrance as you vacuum.

3. To revive old potpourri, mix 25 drops of a complementary essential oil. If you're sick of flower petals and herbs, check out the latest potpourri textures, seashells, river rocks, and sea grass, made by companies like Banan Republic and Sephora.

4. Still not satisfied with what's out there? Make your own air-freshener by mixing 50 to 75 drops of essential oil with two ounces of pure water in a spray bottle and spray away.

5. For an aromatic wardrobe, look to top designers such as Donna Karan, Bobbi Brown and Calvin Klein for their signature-scented laundry detergents. Follow up by spraying a dry cloth with a matching scent and adding it to the final phase of your clothes-drying cycle.
