APPLICATION FOR IMPORT LICENSE

The importer should apply for "Import License" for the goods under import licensing management.
Documents Required:

  1. "Application for Import License" filled out fully and clearly and endorsed with applicant's company stamp;
  2. Certificate of the applicant or ID card of the person in charge. An agent should present "Letter of Authorization" issued by the applicant;
  3. If the applicant is not entitled to be engaged in international business, he must present the certificate issued by his superior organization;
  4. If it's the first time for the applicant, he must present "Certificate of Approval" issued by local Foreign Economics & Trade Commission and his "Business License"(copy) for the institute to keep file;
  5. If it's the first time for a joint venture to apply for "Import License", he must present "Certificate of Approval" issued by local government for his establishment and his "Business License"(copy).
If the importer wants to modify any content of the "Import License", he should fill in "Application for Modification to Import License" within license validity and hand in the application with the original license to the authorized institute.

If the importer wants to modify name of importer, consignee, name of commodity, specifications and quantity in the license, he must apply for a new "Import License".
If the "Import License" will soon expire and the importer needs an extension, he should fill in an application form and present the import contract. The authorized institute may grant an extension as long as six months, and no more extension will be offered for the same license. If the importer has not signed import contract, he won't be able to obtain an extension.

If the "Import License" was lost, the applicant should declare to the issuing party and the Customs office immediately and wait for the final decision of the issuing party.
